Book Blogger Hop & Follow Friday (18).

Book Blogger Hop

I came across the Hop while I was blog hopping - how appropriate! - and decided to join in on the fun.

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly thing going on over at Crazy-for-Books. If you're a new blogger, like I am, or have been blogging for a while, stop by the sites and get involved!

--------------------------------------------

Weekly question: What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters?

Definitely the characters. If a story has AWESOME characters, I can overlook a so-so plot. I don't read for the plot itself. I read for the journey of the character(s) within that plot.

  2. The BBH question was a tough one for me this week! Very hard to choose either.

  7. I said the plot! I can enjoy a book if the characters I start out disliking did something/grew/changed in the end. So, essentially, I think we feel the same way: It's all about "the journey of the characters."

  8. I'm totally with plot. :) The most solid answer to this question but it's still on someone's preference. Anyway, read my answer in Clandestine Sanctuary.

I'm an old follower. Have a great weekend.

  9. Hoppin' on by--glad to have found your blog and look forward to following. BTW, I think your review of ADIOS, NIRVANA was very good. Wesselhoeft's writing is gorgeous, isn't it?

  10. I had difficulty choosing one or the other! For me I have to see some potential in the characters - they have to grab me somehow - in order for me to continue reading past the first few pages. But if it's super slow and absolutely nothing is happening, or I think the plot is really poorly constructed...I may just give up, awesome characters or no. It really depends!

  11. stopping by from the hop :)

I am with you on this one - it's got to be the characters :) If I don't like the characters, then I don't care what happens to them :)

  12. This might be the best Book Blogger Hop question I've seen to date.

So what's the answer? Plot! Hop over to my blog and let me tell you how a good plot rescued bad characters from bad book oblivion.
