Grammar Bit #5.

Common spelling mistakes.

It's a lot, not alot.

It's all right, not alright.

It's definitely, not definately.

It's separate, not seperate.

It's weird, not wierd.

It's lose (to express you have lost something), not loose.

It's its (to express possession), not it's (which means it is).

Don't worry, we're all guilty of using one of these at one time or another.

  1. Yay! I love these. For some reason I always have a problem with "accept" and "except" even though I know the difference and used to never have a problem with this.

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. That's definitely another one! Although not quite as common as the others. At least, I haven't seen too many errors made with those.

  3. The misspelling of weird drives me nuts!

  4. Thanks for correcting me on separate! I had no idea :)

  5. I hate when people use alot. But I don't seem to mind alright. Though I try and write them correctly every time. :)

  6. Also I have seen lots of people use "their" for "they're." It's a pet peeve.

  7. And, of course, the ever-so-annoying "you're" and "your." CRINGE.

By the way, "grammarian" equals "win," in my book.

I'm stopping by from the Hop and I'm a new follower! Looking forward to reading more of your reviews (and snickering at your grammar bits, because I share in your annoyance) in posts to come!

  8. "Too" and "to".

Another great post. I used to write "alright" and "alot", back in primary school. :P
