Pretty Little Liars.

I have a confession. I am now addicted to Pretty Little Liars.

No, not the books. The TV show. I was fortunate enough to see the marathon and new episode tonight, and I must say that I now want to know more, more, more!

I think know it was the tacky, creepy Barbie-esque covers that deterred me from ever picking up this series. I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but in this case I just couldn't help myself; they really creep me out. But after watching Season 1, I'm curious to know what actually happens within the books.

This happens to me all the time. I stop myself from seeing something for so long, then bam! I see it and become hopelessly addicted/interested. But I don't mind. I've heard really good things about this series, so I hope it lives up to the hype.

I just have to figure out how I'm going to get all of them. Ugh.

Anyone ever read these? I know there must be a bunch of you out there that have. What do you think?

  1. I got hooked on the series when it started last year and I never missed an episode. I am undeniably in love with the characters, so in March when season 1 ended, I bought books 1-4. I never thought about getting them before because, I too, strayed away from the covers. I don't like them at all. But you know what? I zoomed through 1-4 and the next thing I know is that I'm buying 5-8.

I can honestly say that the tv show and the books are barely anything alike. I think it's pretty interesting that way. That way it's shocking to read the books and it's also shocking to watch what happens in the show.

I hope you enjoy the books if you do get around to reading them!

  2. The books are actually really fun quick reads. I read them all when I had first heard about the show. Aside from a few events they are nothing like the tv show though, the TV show people have even said "A" is going to be someone totally different...but welcome to the fun Tuesday night addiction. ;)

  3. I read the books when I first heard there was a TV series in the works, and I was a little creeped out by the covers also. Nonetheless, I remember reading the first one in one sitting, and desperately waiting for the other seven to arrive in the mail. It's a great series, and you should definitely read the books, as they are nothing like the series, but both are wonderful.
    Enjoy! xo, <a href="http://www.teennationbooks.blogspot.com>Maria</a>

  4. I read the first handful of books before it was a television show and I really enjoy both the books and the show, too. I like that they're both a bit different, because it gives you that shocking element. The books are really fun fast reads, totally give them a try if you get a chance. I got a really good deal on them, they were on sale with a lot of other books at the time where they were 50% off and then on top of that if you bought two you get the third free. So, I ended up getting the first eight, for really cheap. :)

  5. I don't know how the books and show compare since I haven't seen the show, but the books are a lot of fun. They're total guilty pleasure reads for me. FYI though, each book ends on a gigantic cliffhanger, so make sure you have the next one ready to go.
